Bags four and six are still available. Both are SOLD!!

Greetings to all. The reports of my untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated! My life has taken a major course correction but I am indeed still alive and still sewing 18th century items. I have a few things on the stitching pony right now including some wallets and another bag. I am taking a class soon on sheath making so that I will be able to add that to my lineup.  If you have any needs for your persona just let me know and we will see what we can do to meet your need. Keep your eyes on this page for more updates.-Christopher Haas

Spring has sprung!!

"Spring has sprung, the grass has riz,
I wonder where the birdies iz?!"

I learned this somewhere in my childhood and it is still just as silly as it was then. I believe it went along with the couplet:

"Birdy, birdy in the sky dropped some whitewash in my eye.
I'm no sissy, I won't cry, I'm just glad cows don't fly!!"

Truth well spoken. I still have bag six and bag four left in inventory. Bag six is a dirty, dirty 'ol bag and I can make it dirtier at your request. Bag four has embroidered hearts and is a lovely bag to hold your possibles for the upcoming turkey season.  Let me know if I may be of service as bag seven (native influenced, squarish with a button down flap) is on the bench now. -Rev. Bag Six- The REALLY Dirty 'Ol Bag!!... SOLD!!

Another home made frontiersman's hunting pouch. Let the fancy city folks have their slick pouches. This bag shows the age of years of hard use.  A brass buckle and homemade beeswax dressing to water proof it this bag will work to carry the essentials for your black powder rifle. Made of veg tanned cowhide and stained to show some wear, this bag is hand stitched with flax thread and lined with pillow ticking. The small inside pocket will carry your smaller shooting tools, a small ball bag, patches or what have you and the kidney shape keeps all your larger items with in hands reach.  The pouch measures 9" x 10" overall and includes a 100 grain powder measure. The measure can be made smaller with a pipe cutter or dripping candle wax in the bottom.  Did I mention it's hand stitched? I've used two types of flax thread to mimic a bag that has evolved over the years with use. This bag took me more than 25 hours from start to finish. I would like to sell it for $125.00 and shipping is included. This pouch will come with a warranty card that gives the owner a lifetime repair promise. If you wreck it, I will fix it. All you have to do is pay shipping!  The card will also state that this is bag number six from Dumb Dutchmen Leather.

Plenty of room for all your items.

Bag six is on the way

Bag number six is almost done. I merely need to sew on a buckle and put a final finish on the bag. It will be a sort of dirty bag part two. The bag uses the natural cut of the leather for the flap. It is definitely a well worn looking frontier bag!
The family and I are off to Fort Roberdeau today to help with spring cleanup and preparations for the coming season. Our new director Glenn has put some great things in place and has some great ones planned for the coming season. IF you have a local historical site nearby I would encourage you to see if they can use volunteers. Usually they will be more than grateful for any help. We need to pass Americas history on to the next generation lest it be forgotten. -Rev. Christopher
